Each week Middleton Place’s team of historians and interpreters are presenting educational content, keeping students and families connected to American History and to Middleton Place.

Programming provides historical aspects of different monthly themes, connecting our lives today to the past.

Week of July 27

Exploring Independence
Throughout the month of July, historians and educators continue to examine the many interpretations of “Independence here at Middleton Place with the 18th Century and Revolutionary War as a base and backdrop.

Tuesday – 12 PM (Noon) “Let’s Talk Tuesday”
July 28 – Indigo Dyeing

Explore Indigo Dyeing with historian Bob Sherman.  The discussion will include an examination of how Indigo became a cash crop and how the trajectory of indigo cultivation changed with the advent of the American Revolution.

Thursday – 12 PM (Noon) “Explore More Thursday”
July 30 – Virtual Book Talk with Dr. C.L. Bragg

Patriots in Exile. Charleston Rebels in St. Augustine during the American Revolution.
You are invited to join author Dr. C.L. Bragg for a lively discussion of his recently published book, Patriots in Exile: Charleston Rebels in St. Augustine During the American Revolution. This FREE virtual talk is part of Middleton Place Foundation’s Speaker Series, in partnership with South Carolina Humanities.
